Underwood Ammo .300 AAC Blackout 115 Grain Controlled Chaos Ammunition, 20 Rounds Per Box Md: 451
The development of this technology was the result of an animal control agency’s request for a lead free bullet that would provide an extensive wound trauma with minimal pass through energy. Basically, the idea was to burst the bullet into numerous particles at a predetermined depth creating many wounds and a large temporary cavity at or near the central nervous system with proper shot placement. The agency had tried copper matrix frangible projectiles and found the penetration depth and particle size were less than what was required for proper terminal performance.
The bullet is designed to penetrate to a specific depth and to fracture as the internal hydraulic pressure exceeds the hoop strength of the nose design. At the time of fracture, a massive energy spike is released as the particles break away and radiate outward from the initial trajectory path. This energy spike, and resulting temporary cavity, sends a shock wave through the animal’s circulatory and nervous systems, immediately shutting down the functioning parts of these systems.

The Below Information Has Been Provided From Our Gun Caliber Dictionary And Is Meant For Informational Purposes Only. It Is Not Intended to Describe The Unique Specifications For This Ammunition.
The 300 AAC Blackout (300 BLK) was developed in 2009/2010 by Advanced Armament Corporation and approved by Sporting Arms and Ammunition Institute (SAAMI) in 2011. Based on the 223 Remington case necked up to 30-caliber, it was intended for the M4 Carbine and designed to function in standard AR15/M16 magazines. Thus converting an AR to 300 AAC Blackout requires nothing more than an upper receiver group. Dimensionally it is identical to the 300 Whisper, but the 300 Blackout is fully standardized. Supersonic and subsonic ammunition is manufactured, with a 125-grain bullet producing 2215 feet per second, while the subsonic load uses a heavier bullet at much lower velocity: 220-grain bullet at 1080 fps. Military applications are obvious; as a sporting cartridge performance is similar to the 7.62x39. —
